Since having found out there's going to be an explorer's club as well as some help regarding his charms work in the future, Tyler's gotten to be pretty relaxed and happy. He's got a few friends, who for today, aren't with him in the hallway right now, as he heads up to the library to look up more things on charms to try and at least PASS that class.

That's why, jogging up the passage towards the library, he's woefully unprepared for the group of Slytherin fourth years, just coming OUT of the library. It's why he freezes upon seeing Charles Brigman, the fourth year he ended up getting caught for filching, just as the bigger, meaner boy catches sight of him, and then runs.

"buggerbuggerbugger."

He is no match for Brigman with a wand, and while he's Gryffindor, he is not a bloody minded fool.

"EAT SLUGS YOU LITTLE SQUIB!"

"BUGGER!"

He's not going to dodge the next blast, so there's a first year, running for all he's worth down the passageway.

Will's on his way between classes when he hears the shouting and draws his wand so he's on the defensive when he gets to Tyler,

"Who is it and where are they?"

Tyler's doing a skid before the bigger fourth year, blonde and face pocked with the tell-tale signs of a poor case of puberty rounds the corner.

As Brigman turns the corner, Will tries to get Tyler behind him and says,

"Brigman! Should I find a prefect or are you going to turn around now before I lose my temper?"

The two other fourth years having followed Brigman, turn tail before they ever round that corner. They do not want to deal with the temper of the Gryffindor's Team Captain and Beater.

Brigman just glares around Will at Tyler before eyeing Will.

"You're not going to have someone to hide behind everytime, Marlocke." Brigman sneers before turning back the way he came.

Tyler, meanwhile, lets out a slow sigh...he's not being chased anymore.

"And you're not going to be so lucky next time, Brigman as next time I won't wait,"

He'd end up with at least detention but honestly if it stopped Brigman for a time, Will would consider it worth it.

"Thanks Will.." Tyler speaks up, quietly from his side.

"Got caught in the passage leading to the library..."

"That's a bad bottleneck. Where were you headed?"

The thank you is given just a nod, Tyler shouldn't have to be scared in the halls.

"For the library, to see if there was anything I could read up on about charms, or failing that, how wands are made."

"I think there's a good book on wands, I remember consulting it once for a paper. Charms has a lot of things about it. Are you looking into certain kinds of charms or just in general?"

"In general...anything that could help me cast a charm for the class."

"I'll see if I can help you. Its not one of my best classes but I've never failed it just had some odd things happen with my charms."

"...it's frustrating, I can't even do a Lumos or a Wingardia Leviosa."

"What advice has the professor given you?"

As they talk, Will starts towards the library again, but keeping an eye on the corridors around them.

"Keep trying, to use the swish and flick, or to try looking up other methods of casting spells."

Most other students don't have a problem, or really care about Tyler that much to give him any notice. He really extends the same courtesy, unless one of them needs help with something.

"So I've been doing that whenever I have my homework finished for the study hours."

"What's helped?"

As they enter the library, Will heads towards where the Charms' books are and nods to a few people they pass.

"So far, nothing." He's not entirely convince he CAN do wand spells at this point.

"What did your wand do when it chose you?"

"I didn't get chosen by a wand, Dad gave me grandpa's."

"Oh, that's probably making things harder."

"Well, we went to a couple of wand maker shops, but nothing...chose me." Tyler says quietly. "It's why Dad decided I might do better with granpa's."

"...only that's not really working so well either."

Will's not really sure what to say as he doesn't know enough about wands or anything so finds them a quiet place to sit in the library,

"What does work for you?"

"...I do really well in Potions, but that's not spellcasting." Tyler replies, sitting down at a table.

".....don't know what all to try really."

"Potions is very hard though, few people are good at it. I know I'm not. I can follow the directions but I don't completely understand why some things work the way they do. Transfiguration makes much more sense to me. Have you talked to Professor Aquam about taking on some different projects?"

"Was going to approach him on some extra projects, stuff to do when I'm not going out on Explorer's club stuff."

"Good, I think he'll be able to help. Also you might want to talk to Professor Brown, she's interested in finding ways other than magic to protect people."
