Hogwarts: Lakeside, early morning

The sun has just started to turn the morning fog a delicate shade of golden. Most of the grounds of Hogwarts are asleep but down by the lake the fog swirls around the figure of a man as he moves between graceful poses calmly, with great focus and ease. To those who might be familiar with martial arts, he is practicing a mix of Tai Chi and Northern Shaolin Kung Fu forms. This might seem odd as one form is defensive while the other is very aggressive but the man makes them flow into and out of each other as if they belong.

It is important to start your day right.

Rhys is taking his morning walk, as he does, enjoying the way the light filters through the fog as he walks around the lake. The eddying fog catches his eye and he stops to watch the man going through the forms.

Quietly, of course. He doesn't want to interrupt.

The Groundskeeper moves through two more form before he can interrupt his breathing to say, "Good morning. Feel free to join me if you wish."

"Good morning," Rhys responds, walking closer. "I'm afraid you're unfamiliar with the styles you practice, but it's lovely to watch."

"Perhaps that is because I am mixing a few different styles. Do you practice Tai Chi?"

"I have before, quite some time ago." He looks a little young for it to be too long ago- he's maybe forty or fifty. "I think I'm likely a little rusty."

"You may watch if you wish but I could switch to the simpler forms if you wished to join in." Iroh, not knowing anything about this teacher, hopes his previous experience wasn't in one of the strip malls the muggles love so much.

"I would like to join in, thank you." He bows to Iroh politely, centering himself. He did learn in China, actually, a few decades ago- he's older than he looks.

Which Iroh quickly learns as they begin the movements.

"I am the Groundskeeper Iroh," he says at a point where the breathing isn't as focused. "May I have your name?" He learned from the last teacher he met to be clearer with introductions.

He is a little rusty, but he clearly knows what he's doing.

"Rhys Owens. I teach Muggle Studies." He smiles. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Groundskeeper Iroh."

"Please feel free to call me Iroh. DO you prefer Mr. Owens or Rhys?" He asks assuming, since the name is a western one, that he has the family name correct.

"Rhys is fine. I'm hardly the sort to stand on ceremony." He claims to be allergic to ceremony of most kinds, in fact.

"Rhys then," Iroh replies. "Would you like to lead?"
