Hallowe'en!

Congratulations! You've made it halfway through the winter term, and someone is determined that you will enjoy this evening. The smells of the feast started permeating the classrooms about mid afternoon, and by the time classes are let out for the day, the corridor are resplendant in pumpkins and candles.

The Great Hall, is the focus of the celebrations, with animated carved pumpkins on every table, more candles than there've been since the Sorting Ceremony and everyone somehow finding that they do in fact have better robes than the ones they usually wear.

It's the Annual Hogwarts Hallowe'en feast: Tuck in!

Mike seems no worse for the insult. In fact, he takes it and preens.

"My birthday parties are pretty legendary."

"When are your birthdays?" Renee asks, out of curiosity.

She'll have to know, now it looks like they're friends.

"May," says Raph around a mouthful of food.

"Mine's coming up in November. I'm already trying to bribe the house elves into making something extra specially awesome for the occasion."

"Oh, well," says Renee with the knowing smirk of a Hogwarts old hat. "I think that can be arranged."

She'll need to talk to people who know people, and will probably end up owing a favour to a certain Ravenclaw. But it'll be a challenge.

"I have no idea what you're thinking, but I like it already."

No, it's best not to ask.

Although Renee's going to ignore the look Raph is giving her.

"Let's just say I know what I'm getting you for a present."

"Don't mind him, he's just jealous that beautiful women don't promise him birthday presents."

"It's in May, you idiot," Renee counters, punching Raph on the shoulder. "You'll get yours."

Now she's speaking Raph's language, he smirks a crooked smile at her.

Mike rolls his eyes.

"Gryfindors. You need to be less about the shoving, and more about the love!"

"Uh Mike? Can we be more about the giving me my hat back? And by we, I mean you."

"Huh? OH! Sorry Gareth. Here ya' go!"

"If Hufflepuffs were a little less about the love, we wouldn't have to sit through Professor Aquam telling us about contraceptive potions, again." Renee says dryly.

Mike's grin turns positively wicked, and he tosses an arm around Gareth's shoulders.

"We can't help that we're irresistible."

Renee looks at both of them, and smirks, shaking her head.

"Yeah, you wish."

"Every night, and twice on Sundays."

"Simmer down, Mikey," says Raph as he rolls his eyes.

Renee looks at Raph, and mirrors his eye roll.

She doesn't know how he puts up with him.
