Not Far from the Great Hall; Night Time

At lunch today Will received two owls from home, one from his father and one from Robin. They've been worrying him through class since he knows there's not much he can do from here and the halls of Hogwarts are feeling closer than normal.

Since its been raining quite hard for the past few days, he can't even have a good solid fly instead he's pulled his cloak up and is on the edge of the grounds near the Great Hall.

What he'd really like to do is go to the edge of the forest but he's not sure he can handle a detention with the mood he's in. When he gets tired of sitting still, he walks in the rain and then back into just inside the Great Hall. Maybe he can figure something to do to get him out of this funk, because its the kind that always leads to trouble.

(OOC: For general Great Hall area. Will is a bit more outside but can be pulled inside or wherever just tell me where you want him. I hope this works. :-))

"Not too different from here. We pass through part of Sherwood on the Hogwarts' Express,"

He loves the Forbidden Forest as it feels like a sister to Sherwood.

"You're from Sherwood!" Steph grins at him, suddenly. "Of course. I should have known, by the way you love the forest here."

She's noticed.

She notices everything.

"You probably barely notice this rain, then, the way the weather is there."

He beams at her,

"Its not that bad and you might not remember me but I saw you in Sherwood once. In one of the hidden spots near the Twisted Oak. I know Robin."

Steph blinks, and her grin becomes a little brighter. "Your hair was much redder when you were a baby, wasn't it?"

[will_scarlett]

"Its gotten darker. Mum says it may even be auburn some day,"

Nervously he runs a hand through it, he's always going to be a true ginger but it was rather more red when he was younger.

"You were tiny, and you had a jacket that was far too big for you," Steph recalls, grinning, "and -- you had a bow? Are you an archer?"

"Yes, though I also know how to fight in other ways. Bruises heal quicker than hexes."

[aubergine_girl]

Steph looks at him again, with that sharp interest flashing in blue eyes.

"Do they now?"


A lot of wizards don't condone such Muggle activities. Why bother, when you have a wand ?

"It takes time to figure out the best way to fix a hex but a bruise just needs time and ice,"

Its one thing Robin has said and due to the history of Sherwood, its possible to learn older skills and Will feels comfortable using his fists.

His teacher's smile is bright.

"Will, you're a remarkable young man. Listen, can you owl me with your free periods? I'm going to need your skills for my third-years. They don't know it yet, but I need to teach them how to fight, and I need a demonstrator."

Because obviously little, sweet Professor Brown couldn't do it on her own.

He grins and blushes, "Um, thank you, I'd be glad to help."

Steph smiles at him, cheerful. "It seems I'm surprised everywhere I turn. I had thought most of the Hogwarts kids would have the same attitudes towards Muggle skills as other wizards, but you're not even the first person I've spoken to who knows something about how to punch. That's going to make my job very much easier."

"In Nottingham, its hard to be that separate and my mother's a Muggle. I really grew up in both worlds,"

And things are difficult in Nottingham and he learned quickly how to protect himself.

"You'll be ahead of the class," Steph reassures him, smiling. "Which might - I hope - make everything else maybe a little easier to deal with, since it looks like Defence is going to be easy for you."

She hopes, anyway. Will's a good kid.

"Its one of my better classes,"

It tends to be taught practically and he's a good fighter and dueler.

Steph nods, a little bit approvingly. "It's hard to grow up that way. But I think it's good to see so many different ways to be a person, too. I think you'll do fine, Will."
