Hogwarts; Outside A Good Day for a Fly

The weather is crisp, sunny and with a wonderful wind that tempts flyers to enjoy it. Quidditch season will be starting soon and that means practices, try outs and all the business of making sure that the proper House team wins.

In Will's case that means he's working to pull together a new team and getting them ready as soon as possible. The two Theos have definite possibilities but he wants to put them to the best use possible.

Today he hasn't reserved the field but he's honestly considering it because it seems like you can't fly in Hogwarts without half the school coming to watch or show off.

He'll be in the air, around the stands and trying to make sense of all the flyers, because if other Houses' teams are going to be practicing around him, its not their fault if he learns things.

Will's been watching the flyers and even up for a while himself and lands near Julie with a smile,

"Hello, see anyone worth being on the Gryffindor team?"

"I don't really know how to play," Julie admits a little shyly but points to the two Theos and Renne. "But I'd say those two boys fly really fast and that lady changes her path brilliantly. The boys are also really good at flying together but I don't know if that would help."

"Its pretty simple. The Chasers try to get a Quaffle through the goal hoops like the Theos are practicing. The Seeker, Renee's the Gryffindor Seeker chases after something called a snitch and then two Beaters, me and someone else use bats and balls called Bludgers to stop scores. It can help to know how to fly together but on the team, they won't be the only Chasers and they have to know how to work with the team."

"Oh I understand the basics, it's just beyond that I don't know much. Like do the chasers on the other team go against our chasers or is it the beaters? My family doesn't watch many sports."

[will_scarlett]

"The Chasers mainly go against each other as the Beaters cause trouble for everyone."

[fiss84]

"So the beaters hit the bludger at anyone then? I thought is was just the seeker."

[will_scarlett]

"No, we also try and stop the Chasers as well."

[fiss84]

"That makes sense," Julie replies still watching the fliers at least as much as she looks at Will. "Oh, I think that one is over balanced!" She exclaims pointing to a second year Ravenclaw.

[will_scarlett]

"They are. Watch yourself there!"

He calls out, he doesn't want to see anyone hurt.

The aforementioned flier corrects herself and buzzes by with a wave of thanks.

Julie watches her for a bit before asking, "Do you have to keep changing where you sit on the broom depending on the angle you're flying?" She's noticed some riders seem to adjust while others simply lean forward or back.

"Yes, it takes practice but soon you can do it without thinking about it."

"Okay. Would it be alright if I sat here and watched the fliers?"

She should be in the Grffindor common room studying for Defense but this is a form of studying right?

[will_scarlett]

"Of course, I'd be glad to take you up at some point if you'd like."

[fiss84]

"For real?" she exclaims. She's tempted to ask for now before he has a chance to change his mind but there's an awful lot of traffic at the moment.

[will_scarlett]

"You can't really learn unless you do some flying."

[fiss84]

"Would now be okay?" She asks hesitantly. "It's okay if not. I totally understand."

[will_scarlett]

"Of course it would be,"

He picks up his broom from where its resting nearby, gets on and hovers as he offers her a hand up.

[fiss84]

She takes his hand but jumps onto the broom on her own. It'd be rude to not accept right?

"You won't get in trouble to flying a first year around right?"

[will_scarlett]

"I don't think so after all I'm Team Captain and teaching you,"

Also he doesn't mind collecting a detention if he has to and starts flying, slow but with some turns so she can see how he does them.

She nervous at first but not for the reasons he might think, heights and flying hold no fear for her. Soon enough though she's laughing out loud in delight for the flight and leaning into the turns.

Best afternoon ever.

As she starts to laugh he speeds up and begins to duck and weave through the other fliers.
